2 Ways To Clean Your Headlights

If you want to be able to see when you are driving at night or when the weather is bad, you need to be able to count on your headlights. If your headlights are dirty or scratched, you won't get the most light you could out of them and you won't be able to see at night. There are things you can do to help fix your headlights if they are scratched or dirty.
Headlight Repair Kit
One thing you can use is a headlight repair kit. These kits usually have an abrasive compound that you rub onto the lens of the headlight. Then you use the sandpaper that is included in the kit. Once that's done and all the scratches are out, you use the polish to make it look nice. If you are going to do that, then you need to make sure that your protect the rest of your car from the abrasives in the kit. First thing you need to do is wash your car. Make sure to wash headlight so there is no dirt or debris that could cause gouges when you try to clean the headlight up. Then you should wax the area around the headlight, but not too closely. If you get the wax too close, then the masking tape won't stick and it could cause problems with trying to clean up the headlights. However, the wax will help to protect the paintwork from the abrasive cleaners. Put some painters tape around the headlights and start polishing it.
White Vinegar
Another thing you can do is to take a bucket of white vinegar and put the lenses in it. In many cases, the lens will just pop right off the car so that you can put it in the vinegar, but you may have to take the whole headlight assembly out. If you are unsure what you need to do, then you should look at your owner's manual. The manual should have directions telling you which way you will have to handle your headlights. You will need to leave the lenses in the vinegar for quite a while so that it has time to work. This may not get rid of scratches, but if your headlights have been cloudy or just dirty, the vinegar should fix that problem. Make sure that you rinse them off before you put them back on.
